Summit Entertainment/Stephenie Meyer have issued a press release confirming the New Moon wolf pack! But I noticed that Tinsel Korey is missing from the confirmed list of the wolf pack? Thoughts?!

Los Angeles, CA — March 23, 2009 — Summit Entertainment announced today that Native American/First Nation actors Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman have signed on to star as the members of the wolf pack in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON. In the film, the wolf pack defends humans against vampires although they have a tribal history intricately entwined with Edward Cullen and his family. The wolf pack members will join Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and fellow wolf pack member Taylor Lautner in the film directed by Chris Weitz which will be released domestically November 20, 2009.

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.

Each member of the wolf pack is of Native decent. Spencer is Lakota (Sioux), Pelletier is Cree-Metis, Meraz is Purepecha (Tarasco), Gordon is Hualapai, and Houseman, who was discovered at an open casting call, is Cree. Casting of the wolf pack was overseen by award-winning casting director Rene Haynes who is well-known for her work on Native projects ranging from DANCES WITH WOLVES to BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE.

The action-packed, modern day vampire love story and blockbuster success of the first film in the series entitled TWILIGHT was released in theatres on November 21, 2008 grossing $60.9 million domestically during its first weekend. To date the film has grossed nearly $380 million worldwide. TWILIGHT was released on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD this past Saturday, March 21st and sold over 3 million DVD units in its first day of release making it one of the top five best first day DVD releases over the past two years.

My name is victoria, and I am a full blooded Native American, Mi’kmaq Indian. I’ve been infacuated w/ Werewolves & Vampires for as long as I can remember. I’ve also been infacuated w/ my Native American ancestory for just as long. When the Twilight movie came out,I could not wait to see it.needles to say, it was love @ 1st sight. When I was younger, I spent alot of time @ a place called N.A.I.C.O.B.(North American Indian center of Boston.)were I was surrounded by other Natives who taught me so much about my Native ancestory and about myself..it quickley became a second home to me, and they bacame my family. Seeing Twilight reminded me of the the days I spent there and the people I learnd from. it also made me aware of the fact that there are’nt enough places like N.A.I.C.O.B, where people of Native American decent can go to learn about their heritage, and to meet other Natives. It would be great if someone w/the means would decide to create more places like it so we could teach our younger generation, and those to come, about our heritage.I fear that w/ out this, we may become an endangerd species. I can only hope that someone else will think of this, after seeing the Twilight saga….or other movies featuring Native Americans.

My name is Marco, and all my life I knew that there was a link to the Native Americans. I felt a strong connection in wolves and crows. I heard that my ancestors were Native Americans, but it was kept a secret for many many years (I don’t know why). But now I know that I belong to the Crows. When I was studing in CA a Native American walked to me and said that I had Native Americans in my family! She told me that it was normal that a link to a specific animal was normal. Still I had some problems with the link to animals. But I found peace in it, I’m a Christian and I help people and of course wolves 2. In arts& crafts and writing and telling stories. Gods Bless/
